Unclimbed 6,000M Summits in NW Tibet (Kun Lun, Aru Basin)

Duration: 25-35 days
Months offered:Spring, Summer, Fall
Costs: From $5,000

Tibet represents the last true frontier for exploratory mountaineering. Many of the peaks that High Asia has targeted for climbing, are located in northwest Tibet in an area known in the Tibetan language as "Chang Tang" meaning northern plains. This area contains vast high plains interspersed with spectacular six and seven thousand meter summits. Currently tourism there is nonexistent, and besides nomadic camps, there is no human habitation. To reach the Chang Tang we will depart from Lhasa or in some cases from Kashgar in Xinjiang province. We then drive north west(from Lhasa) for several days. Upon reaching many of the peaks in the Chang Tang we will often be able to drive to base camp. The peaks that we will climb at present time do not have names. These expeditions are the ultimate in exploratory climbing.
