Minya Konka at 7,556 meters is the highest peak in Sichuan. It is part of the Da Xue mountains which run from north to south through the province. The peak towers above it's neighbors, commanding the attention of all fortunate enough to see it. To the north and south of Minya Konka are countless peaks in the 6,000 meter range, which have never been attempted. Our goal is to climb peaks of our choice. An added bonus is the lush landscape which surrounds the area. In the early 20th century, Joseph Rock came to the area in search of rare plants which grow on the lower slopes of the range. During our approach we journey through several valleys which take in this exquisite countryside.
