![]() Trekking in the Chinese Karakoram - K2's North Face
When the world thinks of K2 it usually thinks of Pakistan and the expedition laden Baltoro glacier. High Asia is offering demanding treks to the north face of K2 by trekking up the Shaksam glacier in the Chinese Karakoram. As we hike we will see the massive north faces of Broad Peak, the Gasherbrums, as well as an oceanic expanse of unclimbed and unnamed 6-7,000m peaks. This trek can be arduous due to the landscape and the crossing of the Shaksam river. The views of the relatively untouched Chinese Karakoram however, make this trek well worth the effort. Many of the side valleys passed enroute lead up to peaks that have never been explored. For those interested this trek can be extended to include more exploration. To access the area, we depart in landcruisers from Kashgar driving south to the town of Mazar. From there we begin our journey accompanied by camels.
