For those without sufficient time to reach Northern Myanmar's Hkakaborazi wilderness, High Asia is offering shorter treks into the Kachin tribal country along the Indo-Myanmar border. These treks focus on smaller, more accessible peaks such as Mt. Victoria and Mt. Hphonekanrazi. During the early 20 th century, Frank Kingdon Ward took months to reach these peaks in order to plant hunt. Today, roads go just far enough so that our guided groups can reach and return from these peaks and remote Kachin villages in as little as 14 days-though we highly recommend allowing 21 days. Our trekking routes take us along ancient hunting and trading paths initially through dense tropical jungle before rising into alpine forests and meadows. Most camps are located in wilderness settings, but often we pass through villages where spontaneous interaction with locals adds a cultural element to the journey. These treks are often customized to allow participants the opportunity to see some of Myanmar's most important cultural sights such as Pagan and Mandalay. Contact us for more details on this trip.
