Those who think they have discovered the ultimate fishing experience in the rivers of Patagonia, the streams of Alaska or the inlets of Seychelles, think again. For the fly fisherman accustomed to travel in pursuit of our planets most exotic and untamed fish, our journeys to Arunachal Pradesh may be your next trip. Spawned in rivers originating from the Eastern Himalayas, the Mahseer present the ultimate fly-fishing challenge. Mahseer is a Hindi word meaning 'big head', an apt name indeed given that the average size of these fish ranges between 25 and 50 pounds. Nowhere in India are they more densely packed than the rivers of Arunachal Pradesh. These fish can be caught year round, though arguably the best times are November through March and the pre and post monsoon months of May and September.

With the help of local tribal fishermen, High Asia has located ideal fishing spots on several of Arunachal Pradesh's grandest rivers. Our fishing excursions are designed so as to allow one to fish several of these legendary rivers including the Kameng, Subansiri, Dibang and Lohit. Unless specifically not requested, all of our fishing excursions are accompanied by local and professional fishing guides from North America. The fishing trips are set up to maximize fishing time. We will be traveling by landcruiser only for brief periods between rivers. Accommodations range from guest houses to fully catered camps.
